EPIDEMIK - GOOD FRIDAY FEELING - FRIDAY 21ST MARCH 2008 @ MINISTRY OF SOUND, 103 GAUNT STREET LONDON ELEPHANT & CASTLE, LONDON SE1 6DP
Epidemik promoted this as ‘an old skool Rave’ and it certainly was. When we arrived, each room was already heaving with bodies enjoying a variety of musical experiences, each one with a baseline that shuddered through the floor.
Each room was flooded with colour from lights, laser beams, inventive fancy dress costumes and even fancier decorations. The aesthetic experience was almost as varied as the musical one.
The first room we got pushed along to was Main Box, where a Prodigy tribute band called The Jilted Generation were playing. The energy with which they performed such Prodigy classics as Firestarter and Out of Space was both astonishing and infectious.
In particular, Royal ‘Eddie’ Fitzwilliam as Keith Flint got more and more manic the more he fed off the riotous crowd and vice versa. Looking for some House, we reached The Legendary Bar Room in time to see Non-Stop Heroes.
The two DJs produced a set that was immediately and spiritually uplifting. They dropped in some Techno with the House, working the crowd into a frenzy in which they in control of the whole time.
The last room we managed to get into was Baby Box, where we found MC Spenno and Rizla Dizla doing their thing. The stars of the London Hardcore scene didn’t disappoint; they were battling it out between themselves and the incentive of competition inspired them each to new heights, which in turn inspired us ravers to use unknown reserves of energy levels in order to keep dancing.
Good Friday Feeling definitely left me all raved out - just like back in the day.
