Kenya rugby team stun England!!!
Captain Innocent Simiyu, led Kenya to a shocking 17-7 victory over titans England at the second round of the 2007/2008 IRB World Sevens Series in George, South Africa.
Friday’s win was Kenya’s second over England after another memorable triumph that earned the national team a first ever Main Cup semi-final berth in Adelaide earlier this year.
Simiyu touched down in the opening two minutes with a Dennis Mwanja try restoring Benjamin Ayimba’s side lead at half-time after Tom Youngs had levelled matters.
Some sublime handling by Kenya in the second-half extended their lead to 10 points before finally emerging deserved 17-7 victors.
Kenya’s qualification to the Main Cup quarters hinged on the late match between the Kiwis and England where a win by the former would put Ayimba’s (Kenyans) team through.
