The actress who assured everyone "this house is clean" visits "The Insider" studio.
It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since 'Poltergeist' not only put an abnormal fear of the paranormal into moviegoers, but also ushered in one of film history's most famous lines: "They're heeere."
In the 1982 frightfest, veteran actress ZELDA RUBINSTEIN portrayed Tangina -- a ghost chaser sent to protect Carol Anne, a young girl "abducted" by spirits. While Carol Anne was ultimately saved, in real life, the child actress who played her, HEATHER O'ROURKE, tragically passed away in 1988 as the third 'Poltergeist' movie was to be released.
"She was just 12, just ready to bloom," an emotional Zelda tells "The Insider." "I think of her as Carol Anne, so it helps me cope with her absence."
But Heather was just one of four people involved with the film series to die prematurely, including DOMINIQUE DUNNE, who played Heather's older sister in the first 'Poltergeist.' The tragedies perpetuated the idea of a 'Poltergeist' curse.
"It's unusual that there are so many victims from a film," says Zelda. "But there is a reason for everything and I never felt there was a curse."
So does Zelda believe there can be life on the other side?
"There are phenomenon that answer that," says Zelda. "But we have no way of knowing."
Meanwhile, to celebrate the film's release, a 25th Anniversary Edition DVD comes out October 9.
