charities are a good thing but there is so many about whp do you give and who dont you give too?
Everytime you go out in bedford there is someone waving a box under your nose. I automatically give to RSPCA £8.00 every month then one aday as we were all about dinner knock on the door and it was someone that was pressuring me into paying £10 a month to gos .
i go out in town and i get a woman with a clipboard saying you can give to charity i said i already do found myself explaining who i gave too and she said what is your prpblem an extra £8.00 isnt much i said i pay 18 already and she said that aint much and found myself getting angry i said look i dont work i pay to 2 charities some people working dont even do that my ex was with me and said just walk away but it does make me mad i know they have to ask people for donations but dont pressure them
i ended up stopping one payment as i found i couldnt pay all bills aswell as donations and every so often i give money 2 big issue too |

Hi Nikki
Apology for your bad experience. I give to different Charities and I am also Volunteer to three Charities but under No Circumstances would I pressure or let anyone pressure me. As individual we give and do what we can for others - our choice so Do Not Let ANYONE intiminate you to do ANYTHING.

Hi there
I have my own views on charities as my mum and dad both died of cancer I will do free gigs for various cancer charities throughout the year.
But the charities that I dislike are the over seas charities as most of these charities beg us on TV for our money so we set up our £2.00 or £3.00 per month direct debits then when you look into them you start to see the managing directors are on a massive wage drive a company car and a lot of the money is invested in the money markets rather than going to the people you think it is going to. Then the small amount that does make it to these poor poor countries ends up getting nowhere as the governments that run these countries are as corrupt as anything.
You have to ask yourself why bother?
If you have ever seen the accounts for some of these charities you'd wonder why these countries have not improved with all the money these charities put through their books. The answer is simple, while you have corrupt governments and charities putting the money into other things rather than where you think it is going how can things ever improve?
I have often felt that with the amount of money raised by so many high profile events why have none of these countries been able to help themselves. Answer is because of the corrupt governments and money getting re-directed to various investment schemes but NOT going directly to where we all like to think it is going. |
