Lets be honest here we all have different opinions on this topic primarily based on the styles of music that we like. I just thought to share my personal opinion on this matter. If you think of the recent events I would have to say that number one would have to be the concert held for Princess Diana. It is just so remarkable how much a person can touch other peoples lives even after passing away. The most amazing part of it had to be Elton John performing because the way in which he sings just strikes a personal memory in a lot of people’s hearts. It just strikes up a memory of the day of Diana’s memorial and the song which the whole nation listened to during these dark times.
Another recent event which had me jumping for joy would have to be Spice Girls getting back together for a tour. I know that some of you may not like them but I think that the whole fact that they represent different characters is very interesting. It may be considered a girly group but if you think about it what’s wrong with that? I mean have a look at what’s been happening lately in the music industry, such a chaotic mess. Obviously there are some genuinely good acts but the oldies’ getting back together is not something you get to see every day. I say bring girl power back! Why not? We could all do with a few fresh party songs to sing along too.
The number three in my chart isn’t exactly what you would call a great music moment to be proud of but it did surprise me. I was just making toast for breakfast when I heard on the radio that 50 Cent sues for $1 million over an internet advert. Reportedly the advert had used his image stating to shoot the rapper in order to receive a free ring tone or a guaranteed gift. Now if you think about it its fair for him to be concerned and raged over this. However if you think it over again this question pops in to my head wasn’t he the man that made a film about his life called “Get Rich Or Die Tryin”? And wasn’t he the one that had made a pretty violent computer game? If you gather these facts it would be hard to judge why we should be surprised to see this advert being made.
As for number two I’m very excited about it because I think it would be interesting to see Madonna being teamed up with Annie Lennox. As you might have guessed or perhaps known it’s not a launch of a new girl band or a clothing line. They are teaming up to make a one- off charity single which I think would be an interesting tune to look forward to.
I think I have lost count now, having started straight with number one. Surprised you, didn’t I? Since I’m doing the 5 countdown the last mention will go to Elvis Presley. I reckon that artists like him are just God send which is just such a shame that he killed himself with drugs. This shows to everyone that even the greatest can go down the wrong road but we all have to remember to wake up and find the way back!
