Dear All,
UKEvents.net has teamed up with Boss Promotions to giveaway 4 pairs of tickets to Off The Rails Comedy Club and a FREE bottle of wine.
Off The Rails Comedy Club presents Anthony J Brown, Jason Manford, Freaks Outing, Alan Donnegan, MC Chris Roche. The Railway, Shaw Hall Bank Rd, Greenfield SADDLEWORTH OL3 1JZ £7 or £5 in advance PLEASE NOTE NEW NUMBER 07838 151 454
Anthony J Brown is a curious cove, delivering deadpan bible-black one-, two- and three-liners with well-dressed regularity. He is a strangely compelling fellow whose arch, semi-seductive microphone technique is more eloquent than many performers' entire acts.
With a comedic landscape that includes dead grandparents, in-flight pick-pockets, an aesthetically disappointing partner and a measured asexual malevolence, he has been invited to appear in New York twice and is due to return there in the summer. "Like Emo Phillips with better dress sense." - Sheffield Telegraph
"A truly unique performer... superb." - Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen) "Deliciously twisted humour... Jim Dale meets Leonard Cohen." - S. Press "A deadpan genius... Anthony Perkins' screwed up little brother." - Yorkshire Post "Jarvis Cocker with a death in the family."- Metro
Jason Manford started his comedy life as a lowly pot collector at Manchester comedy club, The Buzz. After an act didn't turn up one night, Jason offered to step in and went on to do a very promising set in front of a demanding audience. Then, after only five weeks and four gigs, he won the prestigious North West Comedian of the Year Award, previously won by Caroline Aherne, Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay.
Jason has a warm and natural stage presence, and his act is a friendly one. He is naturally funny and has a strong, original set with wry observations and a genuine respect for the old comedy greats.
Awards include North West Comedian of the Year (1999), Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year (2000), Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny? (finalist, 2000), BBC New Comedy Awards (semi-finalist 2001) and Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for Comedy (nominee 2001).
"Top, funny bloke." - Leicester Mercury "Like listening to your funniest mate." - Student Direct "A natural with the audience... warm, fun, engaging." - Manchester Evening News "Jason thinks he is some kind of comedian." - Mrs Cooper, English Dept, Oakwood High School
Freaks Outing is a one man musical comedy show written and performed by Richard Lilley, featuring bizarre characters and outrageous songs. Parodying a wide range of musical styles including music hall, disco, blues, rap, folk, easy listening and jazz. Visual treats include a tap dancing Grim Reaper, a rapping ex-miner and a disco dancing porn star.
"Crackles with inventiveness." - Leicester Mercury "Like a musical version of The League Of Gentlemen." - Metro
Of course, no night of Off The Rails would be complete without a few pints of hand pulled real ale and a new act, in this case ALAN DONNEGAN. As Rob Riley is unavailable due to some heavy drinking commitments the compering will be done by CHRIS ROCHE. All in all – the best night out in Saddleworth!
I will be holding a prize draw for the tickets.
