I thought I would write a piece on Blink 182 as most people I speak to, do not like them, I bought their most recent album self titled Blink 182 and I think it is brilliant, there are some brilliantly catchy, melodic and meaningful tracks on it, and I just cant understand what it is people don’t like about them.
When Mark Hoppus, bass/vocals; Tom Delonge, guitar/vocals; Scott Raynor, Drums, met in 1993 and decided to start a band they originally played for wedding and other celebrations, but they finally decided to go for big, they changed their name from The Cajones, to Blink 182. They began a non-stop gigging schedule on the local punk circuit. The self-released Fly Swatter EP appeared in 1993, and was followed by the cassette only "Buddha" demo, released by Filter Records, They have toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia with bands such Pennywise and NOFX.
Their ultimate breakthrough finally came in 1997 when they released Dude Ranch, they received extensive airplay on Radio stations and their fan base was growing stronger and stronger. After the release of Dude Ranch, drummer Scott Raynor was replaced by who was later to be The Transplants drummer Travis barker. The new lineup appeared on Enema of the State, which hit record store shelves in the summer of 1999.
In 2003 the released the self titled Blink 182 album, and it is definitely not your typical blink-182 album, this release finds the once-juvenile band finally showing a mature side, and winning critics over in the process.
I personally did not particularly like Blink 182 before their recent album and some people say that they change of their style was for the worse, but personally I think it was for the better.

| I know a lot of people are really dissapointed of then new music of blink 182 but it's all part of "growing up." Instead of their signature toilet humor that they dispersed in their old behavior they have now matured a little. I as in matter of fact, miss their old classic fast shredding riffs and lyrics about "aliens", "herpes", and the all time favorite "What's my age againg." |

Exactly! I agree with Amy and enigma here. Blink have grown up immensely (they all have families of their own now y'know ) and their sound and what they sing about has too. With each album they have grown though.
For example:
Cheshire Cat - 2 crude intros to songs
Dude Ranch - THe best album in my opinion, but never the less it contains such tittersome trasures as d**k Lips and a bit o' the ol' swearing :)
Enema Of The State - album title, some rudeness :D
Take Of Your Pants And Jacket - album title and f*** A Dog track. Don't sound too good so far? Well, reemember such tracks as Stay Together For The Kids.
Blink 182 - Dull, self-titled album and slightly 'soft' approach of I Miss You, put me off getting this at first, but now I have I'm definitely glad I did!
I'll do reviews of every track of Blink';s I've got soon for anyone new to 'em, so watch out for that soon! :D |

:o You never listening to Blink!? Take yer below deck and give yer 30 lashes! :P :D
Their old albums are a bit childish at times but still bloody good. All except Cheshire Cat, which has about 2 decent songs on it :D
The next album, Dude Ranch, was by far their best though IMO, start with that if ya can. :D
Enema of the State was the album I really discovered them on and contains the most TOTP-friendly ditties. |
