Anyone seen the new Batman yet? I think some of the rave reviews were a bit ott. It's good but a bit overlong and overcomplicated.
However, all the hype about Heath Ledgers performance is true! What he's done is completly reinvent The Joker and created a truly original character like nothing you've ever seen before. This is not your usual hammy comic book villan but a chacter that's complicated, wierd, unpredicable and genuinelly creepy! Ledgers Joker is truly nasty and quite terrifying yet it's a character that you have a morbid facination with like with Hannibal Lecter or the guy from Clockwork Orange. Every time the Joker wasn't on the screen all i could think about was his next appearence to see what he was going to do next. I can't think of many performances i can say that about!
If he does get an oscar nomination it will well and truly deserved and not just a sympathy vote. |
