Dear All,
Just to let you know there are a pair of free tickets available to X-Press 2: 7th August 2004.
Saturday 7th August
X-Press yourself as X-Press 2 return to the cross to deliver another slice of Muzik X-Press to the capital. As summer soaks into London we are pleased to welcome Balearic legend ‘Lord’ Alfredo to Muzik X-Press. Born in Argentina, Alfredo Fiorito, disheartened with the military regime in Argentina, left his job as a film critic and settled onto the island of Ibiza where he landed a DJ residency at Amnesia, a residency that fashioned the foundation of Acid House. Blending rock with the new sounds of NY and Chicago overlaid with pop with a driving mixing style and flair, Alfredo deconstructed musical, racial and sexual boundaries on the infamous hedonistic island. When holiday makers Paul Oakenfold, Nicky Holloway, Danny Rampling, Johnny Walker and Trevor Fung decided to take a trip to Ibiza, Alfredo’s musical influence spread to the UK. Moved by what they had heard, the acid house revolution began. Still resident for Manumission, Alfredo occupies a special place for all lovers of music around the world. Joining him will be West London house mogul Jay Hannan. As one half of Lazy Dog he inspired and expanded the deep and funky sound of West London to the world with then partner Ben Watt. Still holding a bi-weekly residency Jay’s passion for music resonates from his work. Not forgetting the main room where X-Press 2 will be indulging us in another one of their infamous 5 hour musical marathons juggling the tunes on six decks and 3 mixers!!!
In the third arch Nuphonic’s London XPress take the helm. Spawned out of a weekly basement club in the West End of London in 1991 with Rocky Ashley Beedle and Diesel, London Xpress became a ground breaking club, featuring the finest people in music. Various one-off parties from 1994 onwards, included several road-block gigs at the Blue Note club in Hoxton as well as the Rizla Tent in Glastonbury and V Mobile tent at V festivals. In February 2000, London's Xfm Radio Station asked nuphonic to produce a cutting edge radio programme to launch the stations drive towards dance audiences. Within one month London Xpress, the Radio Show, embraced London's airwaves. Each show is unique in that every host tempts the listeners with their own musical knowledge and style, without restriction, thus enabling 2-hours of limitless musical indulgence, from House to Hip-Hop, Jazz beats to Africa Funk, Electronica to Drum 'n' Bass. For this bash they are joined by Whistlebump’s Simon Haggis for a soulful soundclash with the XPress all stars.
