Set in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Trocadero (Shaftsbury Avenue entrance) in Leicester square, the recently refurbished basement- based Bar Rumba is a great venue.
Around the bar area there’s spacious and stylish leather seating and table booths with intimate mood lighting. This - when coupled with a spacious dance floor and talented DJs spinning a variety of commercial chart , old skool favourites and underground beats through an amazing sound system - makes it the perfect place to spend a night, whether your style’s sitting comfortably catching up with friends or shaking your bad-ass bootie ‘til early morning. With free entry before 9, happy hour from 9-10 and a vast range of drinks (with an almost empty bar at this time) it’s also the perfect place to start a night out before moving on elsewhere.
The dress code and venue is liberal (though the place does endeavour to have an approximately even male-female ratio) so the crowd is an eclectic mix of many different styles and ethnicities though mainly young groups of guys and girls dressed in casual fashion out to have fun, with a couple of hen parties thrown in on the Saturday for good measure. All were mingling happily and enthusiastically having a good time.
The music is heavily urban/ R n B influenced -though there are anomalies such as the acclaimed ‘Movement’ Drum n Bass on a Thursday with free entry for females starting September- so it’s not a bar for the rockers but is the perfect place for those loving to grind and sway their night away in a buzzing, energetic atmosphere. Highly recommended.

| wicked! i tryed to go clubbing in london but it was in the summer and everywhere was packed so i got a mcdonalds and went home! |
