1.. Lily Allen: Soft, chilled out pop song with defiant lyrics. The first thing that sprang to mind for some reason was pop melody courtesy of Natasha Beddingfield meeting a highly effeminate Mike Skinner, don’t ask why!
2. Shakira: Sexy Spanish/Hip Hop track, with some cool interjections from Wyclef, that I can imagine will get everyone belly dancing in all the clubs over these long hot summer nights.
3. Rogue Traders (Voodoo Chile): Grab a blender, add a dollop of punk, a handful of electro, a pinch of rock, a splash of dance and a pinch of attitude and this is what you get, I don’t know if I like the taste yet interesting mix but seems a bit confusing.
4. Nelly Furtado: Timbaland’s influence here does not go unnoticed and it is appreciated but I just find Nelly’s voice quite annoying in this song.
5. Sandi Thom: Folksy, powerful, poetic and soulful, a great happy-clappy song that draws parallels with the likes of Carole King and more recently Joss Stone
6. Paolo Nutini: Not a particularly attention grabbing song, Paolo’s voice has a smooth floating quality whilst being a bit rough around the edges but the song itself is a bit boring and lacks weight.
7. Razorlight: The song breaks out with distinct Razorlight drumming followed up with Johnny’s swaggering guitar and vocals. It’s a decent song but sounds a bit too much like a couple of their other hit’s, a think a change in the formula is what’s needed.
8. Busta Rhymes: Nice chunky bass line, and a style that befits the easygoing club scene which is slightly different to the more hardcore rap Busta is used to producing but the chorus stands out the most as being highly catchy.
9. p***y Cat Dolls (Buttons): The Dolls have vastly grown on me and with more sleaze than the Labour Party, this new Pussycat number will get you slinking and sliming to this warm Arabic flavour and hip-shaking beats.
10. Ne*Yo (Sexy Love): Bit too smooth, generic rose petals n baby oil style of R ‘n’ B although the beats and touches of electro give it a welcomed edge that doesn’t leave it completely flat.
