Hello!

Just wanted to introduce FINKA to you all in the hope that you might know of any support slots or gig dates available... hope you don't mind.

FINKA – Anthemic indie rock & blues
Every now and then a band slips in under the indie radar and just knocks you off your feet. FINKA however, regularly bounce gig goers both on and off their feet with their frantic intimacy at emotionally charged gigs. With an already impressive track record of gigs including Glastonbury and headline slots at Manchester’s Academy 3 FINKA have now developed a strong following in London with their crowd mix ranging from young indie upstarts to people old enough to remember that Morrissey used to be in a band.

The band, currently promoting their latest EP ‘Find Your Own Adventure’, have had there fair share of influential fans along the way, from Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis, some bloke called Chris Martin and their most recent acclaim from XFM and Virgin DJ’s in the nations Capital. However, the band prefers instead to focus on their marching, with relentless pursuit, of those they haven’t yet won over. Indeed, a recent gig announcement that they “…are here for the unconverted” has never felt as beautifully threatening as when the band stroked the first chords of EP track “Bodies” at a recent London show. With its seductive swagger and savvy rawness it has an appeal and stun factor saved surely for only the most open and special of bands.

Musically, FINKA display a rare and proud ability to tackle all manner and range of life’s obstacles and charms. The EP ‘Find Your Own Adventure’ pays testament to this in dealing with issues of loving and fighting with your girlfriend (Battles), the wish to have been born in a previous decade (Sixties), whilst the feelings of dealing with the death of a friend is conveyed in ‘Bodies’. The EP’s title track ‘Find Your Own Adventure’ and indeed the whole of the CD is a clear call to arms perhaps for those in jobs they are unhappy with or the disbelieve that people just settle for their ‘lot’ in life when they could’ve strived for more.

The commitment shown to their music and the lesson that FINKA aim to have us all learn can be surmised from one line on the title track of the new EP “If you need it, you should stop at nothing” Well, quite.

The FINKA men love to play live, as it is here they are presented with the opportunity to reveal, share and convert people to their music in the simplest and most direct way. FINKA ‘do’ direct and this can be seen at all their gigs and how they perform. They hope beyond anything that this is what they can achieve to much greater levels as their audiences continue to grow, both in London and around the UK.

They are looking for that break… “We want that delivery of hope that you get when you read of your latest new favourite band in the pages of the NME… bands that talk of the luck or timing involved in them getting their own deal. Its frustrating to admit it but we are yet to be caught up in the tangled AnR web as far the industry is concerned.” says lead singer Jimmy Frith. “

“When fans say ‘we can’t believe you’re not signed’ we realise we’ve won over the people that really matter. So, do we want a record deal? Of course. Is the lack of one going to stop us releasing our music? Definitely not.” Guitarist, Adam Coy, adds.

It’s clear that FINKA are a band that love what they do and one that feed off the audience reaction at live shows. But it also helps that they are clearly focused on achieving their goals and don’t mind waiting for the right person from the right record company to discover them. It can only be a matter of time before someone from the industry puts pen to paper and if their live shows don’t help FINKA achieve that, audience reaction will.

“There’s something about these songs that makes you feel like life is terribly exciting. Finka have that certain unnameable something which suggests that you’re hearing something very special before anyone else. Not least because they’re fronted by a gent who has one of the most powerful and incredible voices I’ve heard in years. They deserve big things.”
- Marsha Shandur. XFM

“Now we come onto the Kings of the night. John Peel mentioned he had tears of joy every time he heard a band that was special. Maybe I'm over blowing it but Finka make you get the same feeling”
- Chris Watson. Sandman Magazine
