Can you be friends with an ex ?

i once lived with an ex for 4 months after we broke up, we both started seeing other people and it was ok, have to say we aint friends now though lol. I still stay mates with 2 of my ex b/fs, I like to know how their getting on and vice versa, remember if u didnt like them u would have never dated them to start with :) mind u there are some ex's id stay well away from FOREVER!!

Yes it is possible but it depends on what you broke up over in first place.

If they turned out to be dishonest and treated you badly then it is a NO to any kind of lasting friendship. :twisted:

If you broke up due to discovering that you had not found your soulmate after all then Yes it is possible. I am still friends with exs who I just drifted apart from due to realising that we weren't gonna end up together for ever.

As for Mr. first husband.....lust of my life......I found out much too late just how much he should have been avoided. I tried staying friends with him as we had a baby to consider but there was no trying on his part. Needless to say we never remained friends. My daughter was better off I reckon. The guy I am married to now, adopted her when we married and has always done his best by her.......and me. He deserves a medal for putting up with me though :lol:

what a sweet story, i wish i could find someone like your new hubby. i too have been married before but i cant seem to find mr right out there! i so thought i had, turned out i was wrong again.

Just remember that a hubby is not just someone that you lust after. He should be:-

Your lover,
father to your children
someone you trust
someone you respect
like a brother
sometimes like your father
protective
caring and sharing but most of all he should be
Your Best Friend :)

:smt023 This is so very, very true.

I had a very ugly divorce from my 1st hubby, but we eventually managed to be friends a few years later.

I have managed to stay friends with some ex bfs but that was becos it was a mutual agreement that we split. If someone betrayed me or treated me badly, i dont think i could stay friends with them. I would forgive them though, but just exclude them from my life.

Profound words ladies. I have remain friends with my ex boyfriends and if they are in trouble or need advice I am the first person they turn to, if I need help I can always pick up the phone and say so. Must note I am married and its only once so I can't say that I know what you have gone through with married ex's. But if the relationship was good then remaining friends is a bonus :)
