Curbs calls for change
By Paul Higham - Created on 17 Dec 2005

Alan Curbishley has blasted his Charlton side's defending at Wigan, and said that they can not continue to play so poorly.

The Addicks have struggled of late and more poor defending was to blame for two of Henri Camara's hat-trick in Wigan's 3-0 victory.

Curbishley is growing tired of the way his team are defending and he says it is time his side bucked their ideas up.

"It's a terrible result," said Curbishley.

"We had a couple of chances at 1-0 to get back into the game but you have got to look at our defending, it was comical and we're saying that a lot these days.

"Take the Sunderland game out of the equation and our defending has been chronic."

Curbishley has been making changes to his side and he says more are to come after Saturday's display.

"Whoever I put in seems to be making as many mistakes as the one I've put out. So I'll have to make changes again.

"I'm not going to take anything away from Wigan. But we're looking as if we have to score two or three goals just to win a game and it can't keep going on like that.

"I've got lads who have just got back to fitness and want to play, while some of them out there today - their performances are saying to me that they don't want to be out there."
