Hughes deflated by defeat
By Peter ORourke - Created on 17 Dec 2005
Mark Hughes was left bemused by Blackburn's 2-1 defeat at Fulham.
Goals from Papa Bouba Diop and Luis Boa Morte gave Fulham the spoils even though Blackburn pushed hard in the second half with only Zat Knight's late own goal to show for their efforts.
Hughes was left frustrated at his side's finishing as they slumped to defeat in West London.
"We created so many chances and on the day restricted Fulham to three chances and they scored two goals and we thought the second one was offside.
"We dominated the second half and to come away with no points to show is disappointing and frustrating.
"We got one goal but it came too late in the game."
Hughes also expressed his unhappiness with a couple of offside decisions in the second half as they tried to get back in the game.
"Yeah well I need to see them (the offside decisions) in more detail, but at the time there were a number of late flags that frustrated us.
"We can't dwell on this. It was a decent performance, but we got no reward.
"We created lots of chances, but didn't score. We have got an important game on Wednesday in the Carling Cup and we look forward to that one." |
