Manchester City's French midfielder Antoine Sibierski has signed a one-year contract extension.

The former Lens player will remain with City until the end of next season.

Pearce satisfied with success
By James Pearson - Created on 17 Dec 2005

Stuart Pearce was keen to avenge Manchester City's defeat at West Brom last weekend against Birmingham on Saturday.

The City boss was unhappy his charges failed to build on their impressive win over Charlton at The Hawthorns, but is glad they responded against Blues.

Pearce was full of praise for Antoine Sibierski after he chipped in with a goal, along with Bradley Wright-Phillips, who impressed off the bench.

"I thought we played reasonably well in patches. We had a sour taste in our mouths from last weekend," stated Pearce.

"It's got under my skin this week and I told the players we needed to lift our tempo and to be fair I think they delivered today.

"Antoine came and played very well, Bradley - he's shown he can do that in the reserves and that will give him a big lift."

City were out of the blocks like Linford Christie in his prime and Pearce was delighted his side responded to his last-minute instructions.

"We could have scored in two seconds - it's always nice when you ask them to start with a tempo and they do.

"I still feel as if we have to pass the ball better to kill the games off and we have to be a bit more streetwise.

"It was an important victory for us today. Now we have won two out of the last three and that looks better to me."
