Name: Eddie Guerrero

Height: 5 foot 8
Weight: 220 pounds
From: El Paso, Texas
Finishing Move: Frog Splash; Lasso from El Paso
Career Highlights: WWE World Heavyweight Title (defeated Brock Lesnar at No Way Out on February 15, 2004); WWE Tag Team Titles (3 times); WWE Intercontinental title (2 times); WWE United States Title (defeated Chris Benoit in tournament final at Vengeance 2003); WWE European Title (2 times); WCW United States Title, WCW Cruiserweight Title, ECW Television Title (2 times)

One of the most gifted, successful and well traveled WWE Superstars on the SmackDown! roster, Eddie Guerrero is also one of the most conflicted and tortured souls to ever step foot in a WWE ring. With wrestling running through his bloodlines on both sides of his family dating back to his father – the legendary Gory Guerrero, Eddie has been consumed and obsessed by the sports entertainment business since he was a child and first began training in a El Paso wrestling ring in his parents' backyard where he was instilled with the mentality of being the best he could be and having a passion to be numero uno. It is this passion that led to Eddie winning the WWE Championship.

Recently disconnecting and turning his back on his long-time friend Rey Mysterio over his failure to pick up a win in their series of matches in the spirit of competition, Eddie has turned to a wicked level of violence as well as utilizing some devious psychological mind games which may suggest the war is far from over between the two fallen friends. Recently, Eddie has attempted to destroy Rey’s life by revealing a family secret – Eddie is the biological father of Rey’s son Dominick.

Aside from the dark and bloody Rey-Eddie saga and Eddie’s devious side, pride drives Eddie Guerrero to levels that he thought were perhaps unattainable in his darkest of days. It is pride that has driven Eddie to overcome great adversity with addiction.

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 223 lbs

Real Name: Eduardo Guerrero

DOB: October 9th, 1967

Hometown: El Paso, Texas

Other Names: Mascara Magica (EMLL, AAA), Black Tiger (New Japan), El Caliente, "Latin Heat" (WWF)

Wrestler Since: 1988

Finishing Maneuver: Frogsplash, Lasso From El Paso

History: Eddie Guerrero began to build his wrestling reputation in Mexico, wrestling in various organizations against some of the best contenders there. He first had success in the WWA, teaming with his brothers Chavo (Sr) and Mando to win the WWA World Trios Titles in 1988. They lost the belts to the American Mercenaries a few months later. After this Eddie continued to hone his craft in the WWA, and managed to win the WWA World Welterweight Title in 1992. Again, this title reign did not last, and soon after Eddie doned a mask and headed to the AAA as Mascara Magica, or the Magic Mask. This gimmick did not last long.

When Eddie became himself in the AAA, he soon teamed with El Hijo del Santo as La Pareja Atomica. But Eddie soon turned on del Santo and instead joined with the Love Machine (Art Barr) to form La Pareja del Terror. This soon formed the core for one of the AAA's most notorious groupings. Eddie and the Love Machine even held the AAA/IWC Tag-Team Belts for a time. Soon, they were joined by Konnan, the Black Cat, Madonna's Boyfriend (Louie Spicolli), and others, creating one of the "ancestors" of the nWo, los Gringos Locos (the Crazy Americans).

Just as things were looking up for Eddie, tragedy struck when Art Barr was found dead in his hotel, at age 28. It was due to this surprising death that Eddie began using the Frogsplash, Barr's former signature move. Eddy soon after left Konnan and headed to New Japan, where he wrestled briefly as Black Tiger and won the NJPW Junior Heavyweight Super Grade Tag League Title with the Great Sasuke. After a few months, Eddie came to ECW, and eventually became a star there. In April 1995, Eddie won the ECW Television Title from 2 Cold Scorpio. He was the champion for 3 months before losing it to Dean Malenko, which was the beginning of a feud they carried into WCW. The next week, Eddie regained the TV Title from Malenko, only to lose it to 2 Cold a month later. Guerrero also had other feuds, training with some of the future stars in Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Shane Douglas, and others. Soon after losing the TV Title, Guerrero went to New Japan for a brief time, in which he won the Best of the Super Juniors Tournament. He then signed with WCW.

In December of '96, Eddie earned his first gold in WCW, winning the WCW United States Title. He held the title for about 3 months before his old nemesis, Malenko, managed to take it from him. Guerrero continued his feud with Malenko, as well as feuds with Chris Jericho and others. In September of '97, Eddie defeated Jericho to earn the WCW Cruiserweight belt. A month later, he lost the title to Rey Misterio, Jr. The next month, Guerrero retook his title from Misterio, Jr, only to lose it to the Ultimo Dragon.

Eddie then began a major feud with his nephew, Chavo Guerrero, Jr. The feud went back and forth, from Chavo having to be Eddie's slave, to Chavo becoming unstable mentally, to Eddie winning the big Hair vs. Hair match, forcing Chavo to shave his head. After the feud finished out, though, Eddie announced on a Monday Nitro that he wanted out of his contract. He lost a match on purpose against Bryan Adams, allowing the big man to pin him, then refused to wrestle anymore. He was then sent to wrestle in New Japan by Eric Bischoff (as the Black Tiger). After some time passed, Guerrero reappeared in WCW in October, stopping a fight between Hector Garza and Damian. He then revealed his Latino World Order shirt, and recruited the two wrestlers to his new stable. Eddie then created a powerful force of Luchadors, but instead of feuding with Bischoff, the LWO mainly fought with Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio, Jr, among others.

At the beginning of '99, Guerrero was involved in a serious car accident. It left him hospitalized, and unable to wrestle for many months. Soon after his injury, Ric Flair came out and officially disbanded the LWO, getting every wrestler except for Rey Mysterio Jr to give up their shirts. The unification of the cruiserweights faded away, going back to everyone for themselves.

In June '99, Eddie Guerrero reappeared on the scene, coming to the broadcast table and talking about his injury and the events thereof. A week or so later, Guerrero re-entered the ring. For a while, he fought mostly every member of the former LWO, angry at how they quickly dropped the ideals after he was injured. Guerrero mocked some of the masked wrestlers, making some of them unmask (with the camera behind them) due to a "stolen wallet". This made many of the Luchadors angry at Eddie, and they attacked him en masse at one point. Surprisingly, Rey Mysterio Jr came to his aid, saving Eddie and forming a partnership between the two, later joined by Konnan. The three Mexican wrestlers joined together soon after against Vampiro, who allied himself with the Insane Clown Posse and Raven, forming the Dead Pool. Soon after, though, Konnan was injured. Billy Kidman stepped into his place, though, and, with Guerrero and Mysterio, met the Dead Pool at Road Wild '99. The three were triumphant over Vampiro and his allies, winning the bout.

Eddie, Mysterio, Kidman, and Konnan soon came up with a name for their group: the Filthy Animals. They again defeated the Dead Pool at Fall Brawl, then began battling against the Revolution, a unit formed of Chris Benoit (for a time), Shane Douglas, Perry Saturn, and Dean Malenko. The two groups clashed again and again, with Guerrero having his own personal war with Saturn. The two met at the next PPV, Halloween Havoc, where Guerrero won via DQ when the rest of the Revolution attacked. The battle continued between the two stables, heading into Mayhem, where Guerrero, Kidman, and his girl, Torrie Wilson, fought an Elimination match with Malenko, Saturn, and their strongwoman, Asya. A few minutes into the match, Torrie twisted her ankle. Guerrero & Kidman, both interested in the lady, got into an argument over who should help her. Guerrero shoved Kidman, which allowed Malenko to roll him up for the pin. After Kidman was eliminated, Guerrero fought hard for his team, taking down both Malenko and Asya. But Saturn proved too much, forcing Guerrero to submit. Saturn then quickly took out Torrie to get the victory for his team.

After the loss, Guerrero slowly faded into the background, as it was said he was having contract disputes. The rumors were proved to be true as, in January '00, Guerrero, along with Benoit, Malenko, and Saturn, left WCW to go to the WWF. The Radicalz, as they were dubbed, appeared as a group on a Monday Night Raw, and soon earned contracts for themselves, with the help of Cactus Jack, who worked to get "Commissioner" Hunter Hearst Helmsley to let them in. As soon as the Radicalz got their contracts, though, they turned on Cactus Jack, instead allying with Helmsley and his group. The fans soon detested the Radicalz, earning them many a negative crowd response when they appeared.

Unfortunately, early on in his WWF tenure, Guerrero was injured, banging up his arm, and was forced to stand on the sidelines while his allies fought against other groups in the WWF, including Too Cool and Rakishi. When Guerrero made his return to the wrestling ring a few weeks later, he, Malenko, and Saturn continued to team together, going to Backlash and fighting Too Cool and Chyna, the 9th Wonder of the World. The two groups battled hard, but again the Radicalz came up short, with Chyna knocking Guerrero out with a Drop Sleeper and getting the pin. Partially due to the loss, and due to other misunderstandings, the Radicalz began to fracture as a group. Benoit had already left, working on his singles career, leaving the other three to argue amongst themselves.

One of the major reasons for the fracture was the attitude change in Guerrero. He started using a severe accent, and called himself "Latino Heat". He soon joined up with Chyna, calling her his "Mamacita", and the two branched off from the Radicalz, even as Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn started fighting each other. Guerrero tried to help settle the dispute between the two, but this only encouraged the other Radicalz to attack him as well. The trio, with Chyna, soon came to blows, as the group could not unify itself. Meanwhile, while the turmoil began, Guerrero proved himself in the WWF, as he won an unclean bout over Chris Jericho at a Monday Night Raw to become the European Champion. Guerrero would go on to face Esse Rios at the next PPV in a short feud, retaining the belt.

The Radical feud soon became full-blown, with alliances switching back and forth between the three men. Finally, at Judgement Day '00, Guerrero put his European Title on the line against both Malenko and Saturn in a Triangle match. Guerrero had to battle against a double-team at first, as Malenko & Saturn seemed to be working together against the European Champion. But Saturn turned on Malenko, making it a true Triangle bout. In the end, Chyna turned out to be a major factor. She tripped up Malenko, leaving him open to a shot from a bundle of roses by Guerrero - a bundle with a lead pipe inside along with the flowers. Guerrero then got the pinfall, keeping his European Title. The feud with the other Radicalz would continue, however.

Guerrero's next challenge was the King of the Ring 2000 tournament. Guerrero first defeated Matt Hardy in the Qualifying Round, moving on to the Sweet Sixteen, where he was scheduled to face none other than his "Mamacita", Chyna. Guerrero swore that he didn't want to face Chyna, but Chyna was insistant, wanting to make her way up in the tournament. However, Guerrero, using a slightly dirty tactic, got the victory, starting waves between the two. Guerrero worked to patch it up in the next few weeks, apologizing for what he did. In the tournament, Guerrero went to the King of the Ring PPV, where he faced Val Venis. Venis, though, managed to pull out the victory, getting a Fisherman's Suplex on Guerrero to keep him down for the win, eliminating him from the tournament.

Guerrero and Chyna seemed to have things patched up in the next month, as Guerrero turned his attention back to his former teammates, especially Perry Saturn. Saturn had acquired a valet recently, Terri. The two men met at Fully Loaded, with Chyna in one corner and Terri in the other. Predictably, there was a lot of interference by both ladies during the battle. At one point, though, Saturn put Chyna through a table, taking her out of the equation. This left the odds against Guerrero, and after a low blow from Terri, Guerrero was hit by a Flying Elbow from Saturn and pinned, losing the European Championship. Guerrero & Chyna then moved on, with Eddie challenging the Intercontinental Champion, Val Venis. After multiple altercations between Guerrero, Venis, Chyna, and Venis' valet, Trish Stratus, the teams fought at Summerslam, with the IC belt on the line for whoever made the pin. Chyna took a lot of punishment at the beginning, but finally made the tag to Guerrero, who took control of the bout. In the end, though, while Venis & Guerrero were fighting on the outside, Chyna Press Slammed Trish to get the victory, and the Intercontinental Title. Guerrero, with the win but not the gold, seemed to take it well, celebrating with Chyna.

But Guerrero soon was shown to be jealous of Chyna's win, wanting the gold for himself. A week after the PPV, he defeated Chyna to take the gold from her, becoming the WWF Intercontinental Champion for the first time. This seemed to end the relationship between them, with little hope of them getting back together. However, Guerrero pulled another ace out of his sleeve, asking Chyna to marry him. Chyna, completely shocked, finally said yes, seemingly bringing them back together. But there were still problems. Meanwhile, Guerrero began a small feud with Rikishi Phatu over the Intercontinental Title. They signed to face each other at Unforgiven '00, although Guerrero seemed very reluctant to, finally being convinced by Chyna. At the PPV, Rikishi took control early, nearly sitting on Eddie. This caused Eddie to try to leave the match, flipping Rikishi off. But Chyna prevented him from leaving, arguing with him. Despite Eddie's plea ("He's going to kill me!"), Chyna grabbed Guerrero and threw him back into the ring! Rikishi dominated a good portion of the rest of the match, although Chyna lended her aid from the outside. Near the end, Rikishi got his Banzai Drop, but Chyna broke it up, grabbing the referee. An angry Rikishi then pulled Chyna into the ring and attacked her, getting the Banzai Drop on her as well. This earned Rikishi the DQ, giving the win to Guerrero, who kept the belt. Postmatch, Guerrero got his IC Title, then, finally, went back to check on Chyna, waiting until Rikishi left.

This later led to the final straw, as Chyna & Guerrero broke apart. Guerrero helped it along a few weeks later, by allying with his old partners Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn in a bout, reuniting the Radicalz. The group feuded with Guerrero's former love, Chyna, and the rest of the reformed Degeneration-X. During the feud, the Radicalz struck a bond with Hunter Hearst Helmsley, becoming his "gang". The two groups battled for a few weeks before reviving an old tradition and having an Elimination match at the Survivor Series. It was Guerrero, Saturn, Benoit, & Malenko vs. Chyna, "The One" Billy Gunn, K-Kwik, and the Roaddogg. Guerrero showed his vindictive side, knocking out Chyna with his Intercontinental Title to allow her to be pinned. Gunn quickly gained revenge, though, eliminating Guerrero with a modified sleeper/slam. The rest of the Radicalz pulled it together, though, and in the end, Saturn & Benoit were the Survivors over Degeneration-X.

The Radicalz' feud with Degeneration-X continued, though, as Chyna helped Gunn defeat Guerrero a few days later for the Intercontinental Title. This lead up to Rebellion 2000, a card in England, where Guerrero & Malenko faced Chyna & Gunn. Gunn got the win for his team, taking out Malenko while Guerrero and Chyna fought it out. As Benoit concentrated on Gunn and the IC Title, the rest of the Radicalz moved on, starting a feud with Lita & the Hardy Boyz. After repeated encounters, the two groups got together at Armageddon 2000, in another Elimination match. This time it was the Radicalz sans Benoit vs. Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, and Lita. The shots went back and forth, and Guerrero was the first to go, feeling the Twist of Fate from Lita followed by the Swanton Bomb from Jeff Hardy. The Radicalz would have the last laugh, though, as Malenko forced Lita to submit at the end to get the victory, becoming the 'sole survivor'.

Guerrero took some time off at the beginning of '01, not wrestling in the Royal Rumble. He continued to be with the Radicalz, though, as they continued the feud with the Hardy Boyz & Lita for a time. But tempers were also starting to flare between Guerrero & Benoit, due to Guerrero's actions during Benoit's matches. At one point, Benoit told Guerrero not to come to the ring during his fight, not trusting the man. The two men also became embroiled in a feud with Chris Jericho, the Intercontinental Champion. X-Pac also found his way into the fight, and the four men became signed to fight in a Fatal Fourway match at No Way Out. Before the match, Guerrero & Benoit said they would work together in the fight. The Radicalz' alliance worked at the beginning, with both Guerrero & Benoit getting near falls on X-Pac. But the teamwork evaporated, and soon Guerrero & Benoit were slugging it out in the ring. The rest of the match was chaotic, with each wrestler nearly pulling out the victory. At one point, X-Pac's friend Justin Credible interfered, helping X-Pac escape the Walls of Jericho. In the end, Guerrero was knocked out of the match by Benoit's Swandive Headbutt. Benoit was then hit by a Spinning Heel Kick by X-Pac. A second later, though, X-Pac was rolled up by Jericho, who got the win, retaining the Intercontinental Title.

Although the ties were broken between Guerrero and Benoit, Guerrero still stayed with the rest of the Radicalz, battling as a cohesive unit against their adversaries. Guerrero in particular focused on his old strap, the European Title, which was around the waist of Test. After the two wrestlers feuded for a few weeks, Guerrero & Test met at Wrestlemania XVII in a massive clash for the belt. Guerrero had Saturn at ringside, who helped out whenever possible against the tall champion. At one point, after a low blow from Guerrero, Saturn entered the ring and hit his Death Valley Driver, allowing Guerrero to get a 2-count. Test came back, however, avoiding the Frog Splash and getting his Pumphandle Slam. However, while Dean Malenko came to the ring and distracted the ref, Saturn gave Guerrero the European Title, which he used to brain Test. Guerrero then made the pin, getting the European Title for the second time.

The next night, the Radicalz walked to the ring and mocked Test, who didn't seem to have any allies. A few seconds later, though, Test was joined by the Acolytes, and rushed the ring, starting a wild brawl. The two teams fought in a Six-Man contest, which was won by Test & the aPa when Test got the big boot on Saturn. The Radicalz continued to feud with Test, who later got new allies in "The One" Billy Gunn & Raven. The 6 men had a tag-team match on the 4/16 Raw, with Eddie surprisingly being taken out by Raven's Evenflow DDT and pinned. On the next Smackdown, Guerrero challenged Grandmaster Sexay to a match, taking Sexay's "ebonics" speech as an insult. Guerrero won the match with a roll-up, using the ropes to pin him.

It seemed like Guerrero was on his way to a battle with Raven for the European Title at Backlash '01. However, the week before the PPV, Guerrero was surprisingly beaten by Matt Hardy, after interference from Lita, and lost the European Championship. Christian was then shown talking to Commissioner Regal, demanding to be put in the PPV match as well. This led to a Triangle match being signed at Backlash between Guerrero, Hardy, and Christian for the European strap. The match was furious, featuring interference from both Edge and Jeff Hardy for their respective teams. In the end, Christian hit Guerrero with his finisher, the Unprettier, but then was himself nailed by the Twist of Fate by Matt Hardy, who got the pin and kept the European Title. After the loss, Guerrero changed his sympathies. He began aiding the Hardy Boyz & their valet, Lita, against various opposition. He also defeated Grand Master Sexay at the England PPV, Insurrextion.

Guerrero and the Hardyz started off rocky, as neither Hardy trusted Guerrero's motives. They believed that Guerrero was trying to work his way into their confidence, only to betray them and steal back his European Title. Guerrero proved his worth soon after, however, when, during a Three-Way match against Edge, Christian, & Rhyno, Guerrero shoved Lita out of the way and took a Gore, which allowed him to be pinned. With this major sacrifice, Guerrero and the Hardys became more of a team, and have been working well together against various opposition. Guerrero also rooted Lita on as she faced off against the Women's Champion, Chyna, at WWF Judgement Day. But Chyna won out in the end, and as the two ladies congratulated each other, Guerrero shook his head and left. Guerrero still continued to be part of the Hardy faction, though, apparently getting closer and closer with Lita, much to the ire of Matt Hardy. Before anything could develop, though, Guerrero was "injured" in a match with Prince Albert at the end of May '01, when he was thown from the ring. In actuality, Guerrero was being held out due to his dependency on pain-killers. Hopefully, the Latin Sensation will be returning to the ring hale and hearty soon enough.
