Be considerate to the needs of others, you too will grow older day by day and someday it may be you that cannot stoop to pick your purse/whatever off the ground. :!:
Do as many things as you can whilst you are able....years tend to disable.
A smile costs nothing but can brighten up many folks day as well as lighting up YOUR face :)
Is the the Forty Somethings Board?.....Yikes I think I am in the wrong place :D |

You can have it all. You just can't have it all at one time one. You come to term with not having everything all of the time with age

The best advice I got about reaching 40 was not to DREAD it. I can honestly say that the few years leading up to it were really exciting. I had my kids when I was young. One has fled the nest a few years ago and the other one has just finished college. Although being a mom is something that will never ever come to an end, I am looking forward to doing so many things that were not possible with the responsibility of having young kids. I have a sense of ........ A WHOLE NEW WORLD HAS OPENED UP TO ME.
Another important bit of advice. Never think you are too old to learn! Brush up on your skills all the time. There is a lot of age discrimination in the work place. Employers seem to think that you are over the hill at 40. I reckon that a woman who is not going to be always off sick with kids and who has a more mature sense of responsibility towards her job is an asset, but unfortunately there is a mindset that a cute young little dolly is somehow more of an asset.
SAVE, SAVE,SAVE. Take out insurance policies so that you can have more financial freedom to enjoy the things you will be free to do.
Take care of your body. A lot of women dread the time when they think they are going to get saggy bums and boobs etc, but if you take care of yourself chances are you will still be as sexy, IF NOT more so. Most men I know find *mature* women more appealing.
Dont give up your individuality. I know a few women who have put their lives on hold to be wives, moms etc and they reach 40, kids leave home and they wonder what they are going to do with their lives. They have no skillls apart from being wives and moms which by the way takes INCREDIBLE SKILLS :D , but as far as careers go, they are stuck. Being married does not mean that you cant still have a certain amount of independence.
I have found that I have far more self confidence now because I have gained a lot of experience. I AM AN 18 YEAR OLD WITH 22 YEARS EXPERIENCE :toothy7:
In a nutshell ......... In my experiience ........
A NEW PHASE OF YOU LIFE DOES BEGIN AT 40 :D |

If you think about it, on average most folk live til around 89....longer if you are lucky but on average 80 (humour me).
So .... when you reach 40 you have the same amount of time left to do all the things you have already done..... only slower
Oh err...... I think I prefer to think of it as :-
With the ongoing improvements in general lifestyle, 40 is the new 30 :!:
Heck...all I know is that being 40 (in my case over it), is damn good if you let it be. |

Hi Ashe
Each to his/her own but bringing the cane back is not a good idea, there are better ways of instilling motivation and leaving a long last good memory
