Wales have not yet ruled out James Collins out of Wednesday's World Cup qualifier with Azerbaijan in Cardiff.
West Ham centre back Collins left the field in considerable pain with a shoulder injury during Saturday's 3-2 win over Northern Ireland.
But Wales say no decision will be made over Collins' availability for Wednesday's match for another 24 hours.
"If he makes good progress then there is no reason why he won't be involved," said Wales spokesman Ceri Stennett.
Collins' injury is another cruel blow for the 22-year-old who has only just returned to fitness.
He will be assessed again when the players report back to the base late this afternoon.
Wales are already struggling for centre-halves after Mark Delaney and David Partridge picked up a one match suspension after being booked in Belfast.
Rob Page is also out injured, but Rob Edwards has joined up with the squad at their base in Cardiff after recovering from back spasms.
Danny Gabbidon's return from suspension is also a timely boost and goalkeeper Lewis Price could recover from the hip injury which delayed his expected debut on Saturday.
Even if Collins is ruled out, Wales will not call up a replacement.
The only change to the squad will probably be the inclusion of one or two other players from the Wales Under-21 squad.
Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley could be one to be promoted with Andrew Crofts and David Cotterill going in the opposite direction.
Defeat for Wales at the Millennium Stadium would see them finishing bottom of Group Six. |
