This is a great canadian band which we hope to see in the future,
and UKEvents.net wish them all the best for the future.
How long have you guys been together?
4 years.
How did you meet?
On a bus (that's the short version). We've actually all been friends since we were about 7 years old. We did everything together and music was just a natural progression of our lives. It's nice to be able to do something that you love with your friends
What are your musical influences?
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, moe., Jimmy Smith, David Gray, Dave Matthews Band, The Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, and of course 50 Cent
How did you come up with your bands name?
We stole it from our good friend's mom's maiden name. It turns out that Vanderpark is quite well known in Holland. No lawsuits please.
What are your plans for touring this year?
We are touring across Canada for the summer but if anyone wants to pay for our flights to England, we will gladly accept the offer. Our percussion player will give you a bug hug. He's a huggable Ewok.
Which band at the moment that has made it big over the last year do you respect the most?
That's a very difficult question. We tried to find an artist that we respect that has made it big but we can't. The closest person that comes to mind is the MC, Common. He just released an amazing new album called “Be� that was able to climb the charts. Check it out.
How would you describe your music to people?
A mockery of popular music. That or groove rock. Whatever sounds cooler.
Which is the best venue you have played at?
We had the privilege to open up for legendary band Little Feat at The Docks in Toronto. We are currently looking to sell out Wembley stadium. Tickets are $10.50.
Explain to us what you do on a normal day?
What do you mean by normal? I pay the bills by setting up big bouncy inflatable events and in my spare time I'll practice Shakespeare and music.
Can you let us in on any secrets as to what the future holds for your band?
We've found online promotion to be the best thing for our band since sliced bread (and I worship sliced bread!!!). We're going to keep exposing our music to people through online communities and hopefully we can break through all the noise.
