Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea (first leg: 0-0)
It what has to be shock of the tournament, Liverpool overcame the immense odds and triumphed at Anfield tonight in a subdued affair. The match didn't really live up to the hype, it felt more like a standard Premiership affair to be honest with 2 defence-minded teams, the fans were at least up for it. :)
A controversial goal was awarded not that long in, with Luis Garcia lobbing Petr Chech in the Chelsea goal. At least 2 Chelsea players dashed back to blast the ball clear off the line, or was it? Despite at least 6 cameras seeing the goal, not one so far has been able to show a real, clear shot of whether the ball did actually cross the line. The referee thought so anyway and awarded the goal. Though I feel perhaps this was concelation because Cech clashed nedlessly with Garcia as the Liverpool winger made the decisive chip, which in a different time and place would've certainly resulted in a red card and penality.
During the last 15 minutes, Chelsea brought off Joe Cole (who certainly wasn't his usual self) and brought on Arjen Robben (who definitely wasn't his usual self. It looked like he was playing through an injury :?) and went back to 4-4-2.
Gudjohnson blasted a shot wide in injury time that I'm sure will give him sleepness nights for months to come! With Dudeky helpless on the floor, the Chelsea forward had literally at least 3 quarters of the net not covered by scrambling defenders, and he quite simply blew it (much to the supreme annoyance of my United-supporting bro and his mate :D).
Post-match 'ol' Jose' said Chelsea were the better team and deserved to win, mieow! :D Though to fair, Mr. Mourinho was correct. :)
So, Liverpool head off into the sunset, getting ready for the final in Istanbul, Turkey in 3 weeks time to face..

PSV (0) v (2) Milan (K.O. 20:45)
Milan are 2-0 up from the home leg, and many consider them the best team in Europe from the start. I must admit I dismissed them somewhat as a team of old has-beens, but they're certainly changed my perspective this season.
Gatusso, Schevchenko, Seedorf, Simic, Stam, Nesta, Maldini, Pirlo, Kaka..the list goes on! All great players who either already have - or certainly could in the future - make a huge impact on football. PSV proved against Lyon that they can come back from the dead, but will even their star man Van Bommel and their unpresidented luck help them conquer the team that are sure-fire favourites to win the competetion now? Well, we shall see tomorrow night.. :) |

"with Luis Garcia lobbing Petr Chech in the Chelsea goal. "
wasnt it baros who lobbed him then the goalie took him out, penalty sending off if Garcia hadnt steamed in and put it over the line
goal! |

| Thought it was Garcia, mabe I was mistaken, I'll have to look that up :) Though sure that's why they gave the goal. I don't think the ball went fully over the line, but since Chelsea were gonna be a quality keeper down and a penality looming, ref must've thought just give 'em the goal. :D |
