This was not one of the better films that I rented out over the weekend, but it still deserves a review. And.....there is not a football in sight!!
Based on the book of the same name and looking mainly at the rivalry between Chelsea and Millwall fans, it has a bit of a documentary feel to it. The fight scenes are pretty uncompromising and make for uncomfortable viewing at times.
Tommy Johnson (Danny Dyer) is a football lover in his late twenties, who is working at a dead-end job. He lives for the weekend when he can drink beer, get high, and occasionally get into a fight in the name of Chelsea.
Tommy begins to have a recurring nightmare where we his severely beaten-up, which gets him to start questioning his current lifestyle and the people he hangs out with.
This film contains an extreme amount of mindless violence but it does go to show that there really are people out there that do this for real. It is sad and totally unnecessary.
