As soon as the line-up for this gig was confirmed, I knew it was going to be a success! And a success is exactly what it was...

We had to be really quick at setting up tonight as there were 5 bands playing and we only normally had 4 so we had to be really on the ball with getting all the equipment in and set up as soon as possible....

The doors opened at 8.30, there were already quite a few people in there as they were friends of bands etc...but after about 10 mins or so people began to flood in..

Kiss & Tell were first on at 8.45, they played an amazing set, even with the fact that their singer Luke had a broken ankle (in five places..now that is dedication for you!!), Jake the drummer (my bro) blew loads of people away with his drumming skills, he has really improved loads since starting playing with these guys! Rich the bassist was throwing himself round the stage like a nutter whilst playing some ripping bass lines!...all in all they played a tight set and are going improve more and more with time.

Next on were Quarantine, they were not on the original line-up but we thought what the hell...they were only supposed to play a 20 minute set but 20 minutes turned into 25 and 25 turned into 30, but no-one really cared as they played brilliantly, there seemed to be alot of injured band members at this gig as Sam the bassist of Quarantine had managed to chop the end of his thumb off during the week but was still able to play!

Third on were conrad, now these guys have not played for about a year or so, when the original singer left the band my dad Andy Mullin stood in as the singer, he was already playing the bass for them, so thought it only right to take over as lead man! Lots of people came especially tonight to see these guys and boy was it worth it. They were excellent. You could really tell that they had spent hour after hour perfecting their set, it was so tight with some awesome sounds and it was so good to hear my dad as the main singer again after so long since the 500 Hojas split up!

Next on were Serenity, now these guys had to put on an outstanding show tonight for one reason or another and man-o-man outstanding really is an understatement! They played all their classic songs again like Maria and The Wave etc but they managed to get quite a few new ones in to and even one that they had written that week. The crowd went nuts the applause was ear defening, there was maximum people on the dance floor. A truly amazing performance and it was rounded off perfectly with a ballancing act from Alex and Ant with Ant on Alex's shoulders playing the final powerful riffs of Unaffected, this really did polish off the set to a T.

The headliners of the night were The Once Over Twice. Now these guys always rock every time I see them, that is probably why they are already in the midst of a signing with a record label. They played a great set, playing all their songs from the recently released album Special Moments To Detonate Themselves. These guys have played some amazing slots around the country with the likes of Jetplane Landing, thisGIRL, Five Knuckle, The Arrivals, Capdown, Hell Is For Heroes, Capitol City Dusters and Fugazi, so are really getting places. They were the perfect ending to a prefectly rocking night.

The place was still packed when the lights went up after The Once Over Twice had finished their set, which kinda makes us think whether putting 5 bands on per night is not such a bad idea after all.

A blinding night was had by all, the place emptied out at about 1am with lots of drunken happy people with ringing in their ears skipping off into Bretonside Bus Station.

As I said on my reply to the earlier reveiw thread, I'm jealous & want you to send these guys (serenity) up to Northants asap!! About time they got a recording deal, easily as good as the bands you see on Kerrang - and a damn sight better than some!!

Your Mum looks mad, we'd probably get on well - she sounds just like me, lol.

The only complaint I got, The link to the Unaffected MP3 has been removed so I can't listen to that track, damn.

Anyway, keep posting the reveiws & thanks for PM me about this thread.

Take Care
Yvonne

'A+, have you been cheating?' Another sexy piece from ya Amyster! :D

Sounds like another great gig, I too am insanely jealous of ya. :D The cloest I come to musical talent is me mate Gray smashing his drums in his room in a vain attempt to produce a tune. :D

Give Sam the bassist my sympaphy! Y'ouch! (in respect for all these indy moshing bands, I won't make any crude jokes about thumb loss :D)

I noticed what Yvonne said though, the Unnaffected MP3 link doesn't work on the Serenity site y'know Amy. :? Get it fixed someone, I wanna mosh dammit! :P Arf! Are they planning on releasing an album any time soon? *wags tail* :D
