A letter written by NIRVANA’s late KURT COBAIN to his then-wife COURTNEY LOVE is to be auctioned at CHRISTIE’S next month.
Written during Nirvana’s 1991 British tour, the letter is expected to fetch between £6,470 and £7,550 at a sale of rock memorabilia on December 17.
Headed 'Courtney Love Breakfast Fax', Cobain wrote the note in a Sheffield hotel room in black ballpoint on lined 8 x 11-inch paper and complains about feeling unwell after hallucinating on LSD.
He writes: "Out of all the times I've been on acid, I've never been able to hallucinate with such repetitive control.
"I'm hallucinating at will, over and over again in this English shoebox with pastel curtains and normal little Victorian lamps and drawers. It's all too normal and impossible to explain. I'm not very drunk. It's like controlled bedspins and I'm the exorcist.
"I really do care but I'm not very convincing. He's sad. I'm sad. My throat is a swollen tumour, Blood sausage, colon. I puke air after coughing. It was morning by the time I fell asleep after talking to you. 200 lbs. I thought of a great idea for our video. Oh forget it."
According to the New York Post, Cobain ends the letter saying, "Well, gotta go, I have a crusade to run. We watched 'Top Of The Pops' tonight, F***ing brilliant, Love Kurd."
Cobain asked a receptionist at the hotel to fax it to Love for him. When she then asked what she should do with the original, the guitarist said that she could keep it as a souvenir.
As previously reported on NME.COM, the long awaited Nirvana box set ’With The Lights Out’ will be released on November 22. The four-disc set will feature 81 tracks, including 68 previously unreleased recordings – rehearsals, outtakes, Kurt’s home demos, as well as a DVD which is confirmed to have unreleased band home movies, live footage, rehearsal footage and 20 full-length video performances.

| Yeah that is what I thought! But then again! He did say to the receptionist that she could keep it for a souvenir! So it couldnt have been that personal to him! |

true but if i was a fan i wud be savering that one!! and if she wasnt she shud hav found a fan to sell it to a long time ago but sounds a bit strange...wel if its goin to charity then ok but i wont be bidding!
