Well...what a gig! I don’t really know where to start...so I will start at the beginning!
After a pretty long journey to London and getting completely lost and taking about another hour longer than planned to get there and there being a monster traffic jam, we finally arrived at Wembely Arena at about 8.30 (the show started at 7.30) we missed both the supporting acts but we weren’t really that bothered as it was not them we came to see....I cant even remember the name of the first band, and the other act was Har Mar Superstar I was a little miffed I missed him as I have heard quite a lot about him...but never mind!
Anyway we finally found our seats at about 8.45 and sat down pretty glad we had finally got there.. We decided to go and get some drinks, when we were stood in the queue for the drinks a voice came over the loud speaker saying can everyone please make there way back to the arena as Placebo will be on in 5 minutes....so everyone started to panic and rushed back to their seats.
The lights went down and everyone stood up and started screaming including me! :D And on walked Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal and Steve Hewitt....Placebo!
They played an outstanding set...it really is so hard to describe; they played most of their tracks from their recently released Greatest Hits Album Once More With Feeling 1996-2004. They played tracks like 36 Degrees, Teenage Angst, You Don’t Care About Us, Every You Every Me, This Picture, Special Needs and English Summer Rain and many more.
The light show that went with the set were awesome you can kind of make out how good from the photos I have posted in the other Placebo thread in this section.
They even dedicated a song to the recently deceased John Peel which I thought was really sweet. Brian Molko was bigging up the crowd loads and was saying how privileged he was to have their last gig until 2006 at Wembely in front of such a dedicated and awesome crowd, some girl even shouted I WANT TO F**K YOU and he personally said to the girl..'Not now darling I’m working'..Which had the crowd in stitches....he could not explain his thanks to us all...it was really emotional!
There was even a guest performance from the legendary Robert Smith from The Cure who sang Without You I'm Nothing and Boys Don't Cry here is a picture I found on the Placebo Website
After there first encore...they came running back on stage and Brian started talking again then stopped in mid sentence and said 'this is Nancy Boy' the crowd went mental....everyone was screaming they played this song brilliantly...everyone was dancing and jumping around...my throat was hurting when they had finished.
Then it was the end of the gig...I was totally blown away both me and Ant could barely speak to each other when we were walking out....I have found a new and greater respect for Placebo and will be seeing them at the next given opportunity and strongly suggest you do to!
