Hello

My name is Madelene, I'm a 22 year old journalist student at Nottingham Uni

I am doing my dissertation about overweight children and would love to know if anyone has anything they would like to share with me. I.e stories of how they got overweight, or if they know anyone who is, and how they are coping...

If you have anything you'd like to share, then please get in touch! I'd very much appreciate any help!!

Thanks,
Madelene

Hi Madelene

I have a 10 year old daughter who goes to taekwando 3 nights a week and cycles just about everywhere. She can easily cycle 10 miles. Despite this, she has a bit of puppy fat compared to the rest of the people in her class.

All in all, she does eat a healthy diet and I do spend a lot of money in the supermarket on healthy food - although she does have treats, which might be a macdonalds or a bar of chocolate. This isn't every day.

She gets down because of how people tease her in her class. She certainly isn't the fattest person and she will lose the weight when she gets to high school next year if she keeps up her activities. The playstation, nintendo, computer and all these kind of things don't help. She has a play house at the bottom of the garden and swings, which are hardly ever played with. The garden is 70 foot long and this is great in the summer for waterfights and etc, but I can't get her out there when it starts feeling a bit cold.
